DAVID “TIGER” WILLIAMS

FOUNDER & MANAGING MEMBER

Tiger is the Founder and Managing Member of Williams Trading. Prior to founding Williams Trading, Tiger was an Associate Director at Tiger Management where he was responsible for trading the domestic equity portfolio from 1993 through 1997. Tiger began his career on Wall Street in 1987 as a member of the Principal Training Program at E. F. Hutton. In 1989, he joined First Boston as an Associate and Generalist Equity Sales Trader. In 1990, Tiger joined Needham and Co. as a Vice President and in 1991 moved to Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette, also as a Vice President. Tiger received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science at Yale University in 1984 and his Masters in Business Administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 1989.

SENIOR MANAGING DIRECTOR, HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Jonathan brings over 20 years of financial services experience to lead Williams Trading new business development, partnerships, and marketing initiatives.  Previously, he held positions as Chief Revenue Officer of financial technology firm LightPoint and at Enfusion Systems where led new business hedge fund efforts in the Americas.  Jon also spent time at Bloomberg LP tasked with new business growth for their global markets trading and analytics platforms.  Along with fin-tech, Jon has over 10 years in buy-side/hedge funds as head of trading for multi-asset trading/risk execution desks as well as with Goldman Sachs in both the Equities Sales and Trading and Prime Brokerage divisions.  Jon graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.

PRINCIPAL & HEAD OF PRIVATE SECONDARY TRADING

Stefan is currently the Head of Private Secondary Trading at Williams Trading. Prior to Williams Trading, Stefan held senior positions at various funds including One River Asset Management, SemperMacro, Rubicon and Digital World Capital where he oversaw non-investment activities including business development, investor relations, compliance, and budgeting. Stefan started out his career at Salomon Brothers, where he spent two years in corporate finance prior to business school before re-joining Salomon’s foreign exchange desk as a Trader. Stefan holds a B.A. in Business Economics from UCLA and a M.B.A from Harvard Business School.

Eric Marx

Prior to joining Williams Trading, Sam spent 4.5 years at the Susquehanna Financial Group covering the footwear and apparel space. Before that, Sam spent at Sterne Agee CRT for the last 9 years where he was a Managing Director covering the Footwear & Apparel industry. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst at FTN Midwest; and an analyst at Mosaic Research. His industry experience spanned 20 years during which he was a buyer at The Sports Authority; Champs Sports;  Buyer at Track and Trail; an Associate Buyer at Bloomingdales,  Sam earned his B.A. in Political Studies from Pitzer College.

JOSEPH GOERTZ

CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER / DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Joseph joined Williams Trading in June of 2008 as Controller and currently serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Joseph was a Compliance Examiner in the Boston District Office of FINRA and was responsible for conducting examinations of member broker dealers to ensure compliance with all securities regulations. Joseph started his professional career as a Business Analyst for Travelers Insurance and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from High Point University.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Bobby started his career at Pershing in 1998 working in the Controller’s Group. In 2002 he moved on to Pali Capital, a boutique derivatives and fixed income firm where he was the accounting manager. As a key member of the Pali accounting department, Bobby collaborated with the management team and contributed to the financial and operational components of the firm during its rapid growth and expansion phase. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rutgers University.

UK OPERATIONS

​Jack started his professional career in 2014 at Decision Economics as a Junior Investment Strategist working on research pieces that covered Asian and Emerging Economies. In 2015 he moved to Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London where he worked as an Equity Trader Assistant supporting the Cash, Electronic and Swaps desks. He received his Master of Science in Finance and Investment from The University of Nottingham in 2014.

UK TRADER AND OPERATIONS

Philippe started his professional career in 2005 in the Operational Risk and Compliance department of a French retail bank (Caisse d’Epargne Group) doing anti money laundering controls in the West Indies and Mauritius branches. In 2006, Philippe joined Merrill Lynch in London where he worked in the Prime Brokerage middle office. Philippe then moved to Barclays Capital in 2009 and worked as a sales assistant in cash equity. He was born and educated in Paris where he received a Master in Finance from the University of Evry in 2005.

CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

Prior to joining Williams Trading LLC in February 2018 Peter was the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of TigerRisk Partners and TigerRisk Capital Markets & Advisory focused on the insurance and reinsurance industries. He was also the Chief Executive Officer / Chief Operating Officer/ Chief Compliance Officer of Clarkson Capital Markets a boutique investment bank focusing on trading, research and investment banking in the shipping, oil field services and natural resources sectors and later the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Clarksons Platou Securities. Peter also worked at SAC Capital Advisors as an Associate Director. He was with Exotix USA Inc a boutique emerging markets fixed income broker dealer where he was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. Peter was a Partner as well as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of CF Global Trading LLC, an international institutional equities trading firm. Peter received his MBA from Hofstra University and holds active securities licenses (Series 24, Series 65, Series 7, Series 63, Series 99, Series 55, Series 87, Series 27 and Series 79).

Michael joined Williams Trading as Director of Capital Introduction in July 2015, and has over 25 years experience in capital introduction, fund marketing, asset management, equity research sales, and capital markets. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Michael was Senior Vice President at Jefferies, where he ran west coast capital introduction, was a partner at Acceleration Capital, where he focused on raising assets for emerging managers, was a partner at Lodestone Capital, a long/short equity hedge fund, and worked in institutional equity sales. Michael graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Prior to Williams Trading Julien Libaire traded live Europe and later ran the Emerging Market desk at Auerbach Grayson from 2003-2009. From Auerbach Grayson & Co he went over to Jones Trading as a Senior International Trader focusing on both European & Emerging markets. Julien received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from College Of Charleston in 2000.

Tim joined Williams Trading in March 2012 from Carax UK where he held the role of Equity Sales Trader/Trader. Prior to this Tim was Head of Institutional Trading and Sales Trading at Merrion Capital in Dublin for over seven years specialising in Irish and UK equities. Tim began his career at Smith Newcourt (which later became Merrill Lynch) in 1991 as a UK Equity Market Maker before moving to Robertson Stephens International in 1996 as Head of Trading to set up and manage their Pan-European equity offering.

HEAD OF ASIA TRADING

Michael O’Donnell joined Williams Trading in May 2011 as the Head of Asian Trading. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Michael was a Senior International Trader at Liberty Square Asset Management/Steel Partners Japan for 7 years focused on Asia. At Liberty Square/Steel Partners he was responsible for all Asian Trade execution with the primary focus on equities as well as trading FX & derivative instruments. Michael began his career on the sell-side at Tucker Anthony before spending 4 years as a Vice President at First Union Securities followed by 2 years as a Principal at First Albany Corp. in Boston. Michael received his Bachelor of Science with a dual major in International Business and Finance from Northeastern University in 1997.

PRINCIPAL / HEAD OF US TRADING

Ralph joined Williams Trading in June 2000 as a senior trader specializing in OTC and listed domestic equities. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Ralph was a sector trader at Fidelity Management and Research Company in Boston. At Fidelity, Ralph was responsible for trading the building, building materials, construction, housing and engineering sector as well as temporary help services, advertising, consulting and health care sector stocks. Ralph received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Trinity College in May 1990.

MATTHEW MOONEY

PRINCIPAL / HEAD OF EQUITY DERIVATIVES

Matthew trades equities and equity derivatives at Williams Trading. Matthew Mooney began his career on the Equity Derivatives Desk at Goldman Sachs. Between GSCO and Williams Trading, LLC, Matthew attended law school and practiced securities and regulatory law. In 2004, Matthew joined Williams Trading to help build out a focused derivatives effort. Matthew received his undergrad from the University of Virginia and his JD from William and Mary Law School.

Kevin joined Williams Trading in January 2005 as a junior trader. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Kevin raced bicycles professionally in North and South America, Australia and Europe. He represented major international corporations such as 7 UP and Cannondale Bicycles. Kevin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Loyola College in 1994.

Lance joined Williams Trading in April 1999 as a senior trader specializing in listed and international equities. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Lance was a senior international trader at Weeden and Co. from 1996 through March 1999. Lance began his career in 1992 on the NYSE as an institutional wire clerk. In 1993, he moved to SmithNewCourt where he was a market maker on the European desk, and joined Furman Selz in that capacity in 1995. Lance received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics at Yale University in May 1991.

Cliff joined Williams Trading in March 2000 as a senior trader specializing in NASDAQ listed equities. Prior to joining Williams Trading, Cliff was a Vice President in NASDAQ Sales Trading at Goldman Sachs from 1998 through February 2000. At Goldman Sachs, Cliff was responsible for covering primarily domestic mutual funds and hedge funds. Cliff began his career in 1992 on the NASDAQ Sales Desk at Lehman Brothers. He acted as the liaison to the international sales force until 1994 when he was promoted to Vice President and began covering U.S. Institutions. Cliff received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Columbia University in May 1992.

Eric Marx joined Williams Trading in December 2020 as Senior Asia Trader.  Prior to joining Williams Trading, Eric was Head of Trading at Impala Asset Management for 11 years.  Before running the trading desk at Impala, Eric ran all international trading at Impala.  Eric began his buyside career at Soros Fund Management where he ran international equities trading, but also worked for several years on the Macro Desk, assisting with execution of currency, fixed income and derivative products.  He lived and worked In London for part of his time at Soros.  Eric received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University in 1992.
